A Spatial Extended Particle Swarm Optimisation for Reactive Power Optimisation

Reactive Power Optimisation is a complex combinatorial optimisation problem involving non-linear function having multiple local minima, non-linear and discontinuous constrains. This paper presents a Spatial Extended Particle Swarm Optimisation (SEPSO) for Reactive Power Optimisation Problem (RPO). Here, we introduce spatial extension to particles in the Particle Swarm Optimisation model in order to overcome premature convergence in iterative optimisation. The Spatial Extended Particle Optimisation is applied for optimal Reactive Power Optimisation is evaluated on standard IEEE 30Bus System. The proposed approach is tested and compared to Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (AGA).
