Abstract

The treatment of surface by impact is a more and more used operation while manufacturing mechanical pieces. This technique consists in projecting at a high speed small particles of different natures (nozzle in steel, ceramic, glass) called shots on surfaces to be treated to improve the holding in fatigue and to increase the metallic structure life span. The objective of this work is to study the influence of shot peening parameters via a numerical simulation of the process in order to predict the distribution of the residual stress field and the plastic deformation in surface.
