ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is the reduction of pendulations of the payloads for the overhead cranes. These cranes are considered to carry considerably long and massive payloads. The reduction of oscillations is carried out based on the continuous reeling method. The equations of motion of the considered overhead cranes are derived by the Lagrangian method. Different combinations of payload and hoisting cable lengths with different reeling speeds are simulated. Results showed that a significant reduction in both in-plane and out-of-plane has been achieved.
