In this paper an efficient algorithm to generate zigzag tool path is presented. Also, an optimal zigzag-line inclination angle algorithm is developed. These algorithms use a machining time model that takes into account the effect of the acceleration and deceleration that notably revealed at higher feedrate across a continuous path. The key idea of the tool path generation algorithm is to generate edge-points from intersecting scan lines with boundary polygon. These edge-points are formulated as a Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP). Then apply Guided Fast Local Search (GFLS) to find optimal solution. The optimal solution is the solution that has an inclination angle of zigzag-lines and tool path generation that minimizes the machining time.
