FREE ABSTRACT (to read the full article, please log in below).
A parametric investigation is carried out to study the effect of presence of an active or an inactive particle on the
distribution of Sherwood number over the surface of the reacting particle. The Sherwood number is the main parameter for
prediction of the mass transfer process in combustion systems. To obtain the solution, the corresponding boundary integral
equation was solved using wavelets as approximating functions. Details of the derivation of the boundary integral
formulation as well as the procedure for constructing the scale functions are described in the paper. Results for selected
cases are presented graphically.
