This paper discusses the application of the object-oriented (OO) approach
to discrete-event simulation for construction. After discussing some simulation
strategies for construction-oriented simulation systems, the activity object-oriented
(AOO) simulation strategy for modelling construction operations is focused
on. The object-oriented (OO) approach, including object-oriented modelling
concept and certain mechanisms of OO programming, is merged with an activity
scanning (AS) simulation strategy in developing the AOO simulation strategy
that regards activities as objects. The paper also describes the AOO graphical
modelling interface associated with the AOO simulation strategy.
