EFFECT OF TOOL GEOMETRICAL PARAMETERS ON VIBRATORY BEHAVIOUR IN DRILLING

ABSTRACT Chatter Vibrations in drilling is a rather difficult and still unsolved problem. Much research is still needed in the future. Its influence on the dynamic behaviour is the main cause of many anomalies. Hence, to discover and study this phenomenon, we propose in this paper a theoretical investigation about the effect of geometrical parameters on vibratory behaviour in the drilling process. The study consists of a static model to predict thrust and torque in drilling and the solution of a dynamic model with two degrees of freedom using a predictive torque model. Numerical results for a static and dynamic study are also illustrated and commented on.
