Research on the development and application of computer software and
hardware tools to provide important simulations for Design, Mechanical,
Manufacturing and Materials Engineering.
Simulations can include development of:-
- Virtual
Reality
- Finite-Element
Analysis, Finite Difference, Boundary Element Analysis, . Mathematical
Modelling, Numerical Analysis
- Fuzzy
Logic, Neural Networks, Fractals and Chaos,
- Knowledge
Based Systems, Specialist Algoriths and Optimisation Techniques
- High performance computing
& grid based computing.
- New
ways of using simulation for example haptic feedback
to solve
problems such as:-
- Virtual
Prototyping & Ergonomics
- Engineering
Analysis (e.g. stress, strain, thermal, fluids, kinematics )
- Materials
Processing Simulations (e.g. Metal Forming),
- Computer
Aided and Engineering Design, Reverse Engineering, and Integrated
Design and Manufacturing.
Papers
must demonstrate how the research can be used in industry to
provide solutions and improvements.
