Research on the development and application of computer software and hardware tools to provide important simulations for Design, Mechanical, Manufacturing and Materials Engineering.

Simulations can include development of:-
  1. Virtual Reality
  2. Finite-Element Analysis, Finite Difference, Boundary Element Analysis, . Mathematical Modelling, Numerical Analysis
  3. Fuzzy Logic, Neural Networks, Fractals and Chaos,
  4. Knowledge Based Systems, Specialist Algoriths and Optimisation Techniques
  5. High performance computing & grid based computing.
  6. New ways of using simulation for example haptic feedback
to solve problems such as:-
  1. Virtual Prototyping & Ergonomics
  2. Engineering Analysis (e.g. stress, strain, thermal, fluids, kinematics )
  3. Materials Processing Simulations (e.g. Metal Forming),
  4. Computer Aided and Engineering Design, Reverse Engineering, and Integrated Design and Manufacturing.
Papers must demonstrate  how the research can be used in industry to provide solutions and improvements.
